Linking Text, Images and Documents

Decide where you would like to create the link for your Text or Image on your website. Please note that there are additional steps required to link a Document, as outlined in the "Instructions" section below.
 
Possible areas are:
  • On a specific page on your website.
  • In a particular region on your website / template (such as the Header area).
  • In the Header or Footer area of a specific page on your website.

Specific Page:

  • Click on "Pages" from the menu on the left in your COOLSite Admin and then click on the corresponding icon under the "Edit" column, next to the page in where you would like to create the link.

Particular Template Region (Header, Footer, etc...):

  • Click on "Configure Layout" > "Configure Layout" from the menu on the left in your COOLSite Admin and then click into the appropriate region where you would like to create the link.

Header / Footer on a Specific Page:

  • Click on "Pages" from the menu on the left in your COOLSite Admin and then click on the corresponding icon under the “Header/Footer” column, next to the page where you would like to create the link.  A pop-up window will appear with two editor boxes (Header and Footer) and you will need to click into the appropriate editor box.

Linking Text
 
  • To create new Links, highlight any text in the editor, and then click on the "Link" icon on the editor toolbar.  This icon is located on the second row of icons.
     
  • To edit existing Links, highlight the link and then click on the "Link" icon on the editor toolbar.  This icon is located on the second row of icons.
     
  • The "Link" window will now pop-up and you will need to enter the URL that you wish to link to, into the "URL" box.  Optionally, you can also specify how you would like the link to open (ie: in the Same Window, a New Window, or a Pop-Up Window), by clicking on the "Target" tab at the top and selecting "New Window (_blank)", "Same Window (_self)" or "<popup window>" from the select list.

    Note: If you select the option for "<popup window>", you will also need to complete the attributes for "Popup Name", "Width", "Height", "Left Position" and "Top Position".
     
  • Click "OK" at the bottom and then click on the "Process Page Update" / "Apply to Site Now" / "Save" button below the editor box, to save your changes.

Linking Images (ie: Photos or Social Media Icons)
 
  • Left-click on the image within the editor box and then click on the "Link" icon on the editor toolbar.  This icon is located on the second row of icons.
     
  • The "Link" window will now pop-up and you will need to enter the URL that you wish to link to, into the "URL" box.  Optionally, you can also specify how you would like the link to open (ie: in the Same Window, a New Window, or a Pop-Up Window), by clicking on the "Target" tab at the top and selecting "New Window (_blank)", "Same Window (_self)" or "<popup window>" from the select list.

    Note: If you select the option for "<popup window>", you will also need to complete the attributes for "Popup Name", "Width", "Height", "Left Position" and "Top Position".
     
  • Click "OK" at the bottom and then click on the "Process Page Update" / "Apply to Site Now" / "Save" button below the editor box, to save your changes.

Linking to a Document (ie: a PDF or Word document for example)
 
  • Click "File Storage" from the menu on the left.
     
  • Click the "Upload" button at the top to browse and select from your computer, the document file that you would like to link to.
     
  • Once the file has been uploaded, right-click on it and select "Get URL".  Copy the URL provided in the pop-up window and click "OK" when done.
     
  • Edit one of the areas mentioned above where you would like to create the link.
     
  • Type the text that you would like to use for the link, into the editor box.  For example, you can type "Click Here to View PDF document".
     
  • Highlight the text that you just entered and then click on the "Link" icon on the editor toolbar.  This icon is located on the second row of icons.
     
  • The "Link" window will now pop-up and you will need to enter the URL that you wish to link to, into the "URL" box.  Optionally, you can also specify how you would like the link to open (ie: in the Same Window, a New Window, or a Pop-Up Window), by clicking on the "Target" tab at the top and selecting "New Window (_blank)", "Same Window (_self)" or "<popup window>" from the select list.
