Difference between IMAP & POP

POP (Basic)
With POP3, your mail is saved in a mailbox on the remote server until you check your mail. When you check your mail, all of the mail is downloaded to your computer and is no longer maintained on the server. If you use POP3 and are traveling or check your mail from multiple locations, you will not be able to view any of your old mail because the messages only exist on the computer on which you originally received your mail. Note: With POP setup there is an option to keep messages on the server for X days but it will keep everything in inbox only and not have a perfect sync with what you already deleted from your email client.

IMAP (Advanced)
IMAP is a newer protocol that keeps all messages and folders on the server. Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between the Mail Server mailbox and your email client(s) mailbox. This means when you log in to the Webmail interface, actions you performed on email clients and mobile devices will automatically appear in the Web interface (and vice versa). Cons: Since IMAP syncs all messages to Webmail it uses more disk space and if you do not keep old un-needed messages deleted properly it could cause you to have to purchase more disk space. Also IMAP is considered advanced as it has more settings such as subscribing/syncing folders, marking as deleted and then having to purge, etc.

Mozilla Thunderbird 2 & Webmail Sync (Contacts & Calendars)

To synchronize Mozilla Thunderbird 2 & Webmail (Contacts & Calendars), you will need to download and install the Lightning and Funambol plug-ins for the Thunderbird email client.

There are two methods for downloading and installing the required plugins:

Option One

Download the Lightning plug-in from Thunderbird Add-ons and save the plug-in to your desktop.
Start Thunderbird and go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Install. Then select the Lightning plug-in, which you should have saved on your desktop, and click Install Now.
Exit and restart Thunderbird.
Download the Funambol plug-in from Thunderbird Add-ons and save the plug-in to your desktop.
Start Thunderbird and go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Install. Then select the Funambol plug-in, which you should have saved on your desktop, and click Install Now.
Exit and restart Thunderbird.

Option Two

Start Thunderbird and go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Get Extensions. This will open your browser (or a new browser window if your browser is already open) and take you to the Thunderbird Add-ons Web site.
From the Thunderbird Add-ons site, search for the Lightning plug-in. Click Download Now and save the plug-in to your desktop.
From the Thunderbird Add-ons site, search for the Funambol plug-in. Click Download Now and save the plug-in to your desktop.
From the Thunderbird interface, go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Install. Then select the Lightning plug-in, which you should have saved on your desktop, and click Install Now.
Exit and restart Thunderbird.
In Thunderbird and go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Install. Then select the Funambol plug-in, which you should have saved on your desktop, and click Install Now.

After installing the plug-ins, you will need to configure the Funambol plug-in using the following steps:

From the Thunderbird interface, go to Tools -> Funambol Plug-in -> Options.
Enter the server location into the server URL field using the format https://Mail.Colony1.Net/sync/default.aspx
Enter your full email address
Enter your account password.
Click the Synchronize tab.
Select the items that you want to synchronize (contacts and/or calendar).
IMPORTANT NOTE: To synchronize the calendar, you will need to click the Details button and change the remote name to scal.
If you want to schedule synchronization, click Sync Every.
Click OK and Click to Synchronize.

Windows Mobile & Webmail Sync (Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, Notes)

There are two options to synchronize Windows Mobile & Webmail (Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, Notes)
1) SmarterMail Sync
2) SyncML

1) SmarterMail Sync

To download SmarterMail Sync:

Log in to Webmail https://Mail.Colony1.Net/
Select Settings in the main toolbar.
Click the Settings left navigation pane.
Click SmarterMail Client Utilities in the left tree view.
Download and install the appropriate version(s) of the utility.

Follow these steps to configure your mobile device with SmarterMail using SmarterMail Sync:

On your mobile device, open SmarterMail Sync.
Select Accounts.
Select File.
Select Add.
Enter a Name.
Enter the URL of your SmarterMail Web Interface.
Enter your email address and password.
Select the items you wish to synchronize. By default, all items are selected.
Select File.
Select Save.
Select Done.

Follow these steps to synchronize your mobile device with SmarterMail using SmarterMail Sync:

Open SmarterMail Sync
Select Sync
Select the account you wish to sync from the list.
When syncing is complete, select Finish.

2) SyncML

This article describes the process of downloading and installing the funambol.com SyncML plugin for the SmartPhone. This will allow the sycnronization of calendars, contacts, tasks and notes between a SmarterMail user account and the SmartPhone.

Download the SyncML plug-in for the SmartPhone from the funambol website.
Select Windows Mobile Smartphone
You will be prompted to fill out a registration form or you can choose to select “No thanks-please take me straight to the downloads!”
Download the funambol plug-in for Smarterphone to the desktop (or a local download folder)
Connect the SmartPhone to the Active Sync or Sync Center
Install the funambol.com plug-in by double clicking on the funambol plugin
Once the installation is finished you will see a configuration screen on Smartphone device
1. The server location needs be for formatted as:
  https://Mail.Colony1.Net/Sync/Default.aspx
2. Username needs to be your full email address
3. Enter password
4. Save
After Saving select Sync All
A message will appear requesting a full Sync, click Yes to initiate

Sync Windows Mobile devices using SyncML
Follow these steps to synchronize a Windows Mobile device:

Using your Windows Mobile device, navigate to the Funambol plug-in. (The default location is under programs)
Open the Funambol plug-in.
Select Sync All.
After the sync is complete, click OK.

IPhone & Webmail Sync (Contacts)

To synchronize IPhone & Webmail contacts you need to install the Funambol SyncML client to your phone. Follow these steps to install Funambol on the iPhone and sync contacts with WebMail:

Using your iPhone, go to the App Store.
Click Search and type Funambol in the search box.
Click Search
Click Funambol
Click Free. Then click Install.
After the Funambol client has downloaded to your iPhone, click the Funambol icon.
You will be prompted to enter in your credentials. Enter time and click OK.
In the Server Location field, type https://Mail.Colony1.Net/sync/default.aspx
In the Username field, type your email address.
In the Password field, type the password for the account.
Click Done.
Click Funambol in the upper left corner.
Click Sync Contacts to synchronize the contacts with SmarterMail.

Sync iPhone using SyncML
Follow these steps to synchronize an iPhone:

Using your iPhone, open the Funambol application.
Select Sync Contacts.
After the sync is complete, close the application.

Outlook & Webmail Sync (Contacts, Calendars, Tasks, and Notes)

SmarterMail Sync can be used to synchronize contacts, calendars, tasks, and notes with Outlook 2007 and 2003.

Rename a Domain or Add Domain Aliases in Plesk

Login to Plesk at https://plesk.colony1.net:8443/
Choose Domains and then click the specific Domain.

If your current Primary Domain is not being used any longer you can Rename Domain.
To Rename Domain, under Domain Administration click the down arrow and click the choice for Rename Domain.

If you want to add additional Domains that point to the same Primary Domain you can add them under Domain Aliases.
To add Domain Aliaseses, under Website click Domain Aliases.

Note: When adding new domains make sure to point the name servers to DNS4.Colony1.Net and DNS5.Colony1.Net. This can be done at the location where you registered/purchased the Domain.

Norton Safe Web Site Verification

For Norton Safe Web site ownership verification, Norton requires you to upload an authentication file to the root folder of your website. Due to your COOLSite being a user-friendly website builder tool we do not allow direct access to root files. However Norton provides a verification method through a Meta Tag.

1) Login to your COOLSite admin area and Click on "Meta Tags" from the menu.

2) Put the following below in the "HTML HEAD TEXT" field:

<META NAME="nortonsw" content="NORTON_CODE_HERE" />

*(NORTON_CODE_HERE) can be obtained in your Safe Web Norton Account by downloading and opening your authentication file.
Save your changes by clicking on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the COOLSite - Meta Tags page.

3)
If your Norton account does not have a function for Meta Tag Verification then you can Join and post a forum thread to the Norton Safe Web team and ask them to verify your site. You can post the thread under http://community.norton.com/norton/ -> Norton Internet Security / Norton AntiVirus. Flash SWF Links in HTML page no longer function

Issue:
If you embed a Flash SWF on your website and find that Links or Redirects within the Flash do not work. This is due to a security restriction in the Browser Flash Player. For more details see Adboe TechNote: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/50c1cf38.html

Solution:
The easiest fix is to specify AllowScriptAccess="always" in the HTML page as in this example:

Embedding Media (Videos, Flash, etc...) on your Website

1. Click on "Upload Files" from the menu on the left in your admin area and then click on the "Upload" button to browse and select the media file from your computer (Video, Flash, etc...). Once you have located the file on your computer, place a check in the corresponding checkbox to select the file, and then click on the "Send" button above to upload the file.

2. The file should now be listed in your Upload Files area and you will need to click on the "Copy URL" button next to this file.

3. Now that you have copied the direct URL to this file, click on "List pages" from the menu on the left and then click on the name of the page in which you would like to embed this media on.

4. You will now need to click on the "Insert/edit embedded media" icon on the editor toolbar (3rd row, 6th icon in from the right), and another window should pop-up. In the "Type" drop-down selection box, select the appropriate type of file in which you are going to embed on this page. Next, in the "File/URL" field, paste the URL that you copied from step 2 above. Finally, specify the Dimensions / size of the media, as you would like it to appear on this page, using the "Dimensions" fields.

5. When done, click on the "Insert" button below, followed by the "Process Page Update" button at the bottom of the editor box, to save your changes.

6. You should now view this page on your website, to ensure that your media is properly embedded and is playing.

Disable Email User

An Email User can be Disabled by logging into Webmail https://Mail.Colony1.Net/ as an Email Administrator and going to Settings - Domain Settings - Users - User Edit - Disable User (Check Box) - Save.

Now click on Users on the left again and the User you Disabled will show (disabled)
