How to Add Links, Photos, and Raw HTML
How to Add Links, Photos, and Raw HTML to your Website

There are two ways to add links, photos, or Raw HTML to your site.  You can add these to an individual page on your site or you can have these shown on all the pages within your site.  Please see the instructions below on how to add links, photos, or Raw HTML to your site:

A) For Individual Pages:

Click on "List Pages" and then click on any Free Form page type to edit.  Next, follow the specific instructions below depending on what exactly you are trying to insert or add on this particular page.

B) For All Pages:

If you would like your links, photos, or Raw HTML to be shown on all of the pages on your site, you can click on “Configure Layout” from your admin area and select an area (header/footer, upper left nav, bottom left nav) where you would like this to appear on all pages.  Next, follow the specific instructions below depending on what exactly you are trying to insert or add in this particular area of your site.

LINKS

Once in the editor section of a page you can use a word, sentence or image in which you want to be the link.  Next, highlight the text you just typed and click the "Insert/Edit Link" icon on the editor toolbar (indicated by a chain symbol). A small window will pop-up.  Type or copy and paste the URL of the page you want to link to in the "Link URL" field.  Examples of URLs are http://www.colony1.net  and http://www.google.com.  Additionally, in the "Target" field, you can specify whether or not you would like the link to "open in this window/frame" or "open in new window".  Click the "Insert" button at the bottom of the small window.  The small window will close out and the text will now be hyperlinked.  Finally, Click "Process Page Update" at the bottom of the editor box to save your changes.

If you would like to create a hyperlink from an existing image on this page, you will need to right-click on the image and select "Insert/Edit Link".  Follow the same instructions above to create a hyperlink from this image.

If you would like to create a hyperlink from an e-mail address, then first type in the e-mail address into the editor box (ie: User@MyDomain.Com) and then highlight the entire e-mail address.  Follow the same instructions above to setup the hyperlink for this e-mail address, but note that in the "Link URL" field, you will need to type in "mailto:User@MyDomain.Com" where "User@MyDomain.Com" is the e-mail address.

PHOTOS

Put your cursor in the editor where you want the photo to show up.  Next, click the "Insert/Edit Image" icon (indicated by a picture of a tree) on the editor toolbar and a pop-up window will come up.  Select one of your existing available images from the "Select Image" drop-down box or you can upload a new image altogether by clicking on "Upload New Image".  If you choose to upload a new image, another pop-up window will come up and you can then click on the "Add Files..." button to browse and select the new image from your computer that you would like to upload.  Once selected, click on "Open" and you will now see a preview of the image to be uploaded. Click on the "Upload" button at the top of this window to begin uploading your new photo.  Once the image has been uploaded, you will receive a "Upload complete" message and you will need to click on "OK" to close out this window.  From the "Select Image" drop-down box, you can now select the image that you have just uploaded (the image will typically be located towards the top of the list) and once selected, click on the "Insert" button at the bottom of the window and the image will be inserted into the editor.  Finally, click on the "Process Page Update" button at the bottom of the Editor to save your changes.

NOTE: If you have any problems with the above steps, please refer to http://support.colony1.net/KB/a49/image-uploader.aspx for additional information regarding the Image Uploader.

RAW HTML

For Individual Pages:

There is a "Edit Raw HTML" link at the top of all Free Form page types that will let you enter in or paste HTML directly and submit it (ie: click on the "Process Page Update" button).

For All Pages:

To edit the Raw HTML in any of the "Configure Layout" areas,
you can click on the "HTML" button on the editor toolbar and then place your cursor at the end of the very last line of the existing text and press the enter key on your keyboard to move the cursor down to a new line.  Next, enter or paste (CTRL + V) the necessary HTML into the HTML Source Editor box and click on the "Update" button below once done.  Finally, click on "Process Page Update" at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
