Instructions on enabling the new E-Commerce Features:
Once you are logged into your admin, go to "Configuration > General". Under the E-Commerce heading, check the following options:
-Show Mini-Shopping Cart
-Show "New Items"
-Show Category List
-Show Manufacturer List
-Automatically show products created less than 15 days ago (from today's date) as NEW.
Once you have selected the following, click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
Click "View Website" to see the new features implemented on your website.
For more details on what these new features do, click the "Click to get more help" link at the top of the Cool Cart Preferences page ("Configuration > General" in the admin).
Last but not least, we have added an easy way to create catalog pages that display only "NEW" or "ON SALE" products.
Simply edit an existing or create a new Catalog page, select "Show Products", and then select either "New Items" or "Sale Items". Make sure to click "Submit" at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
If
you select "New Items", then only "NEW" products will display on the
catalog page. If you select "Sale Items", then only products that are
on sale will display on the page.
Instructions on implementing the new "E-Commerce" Template Design:
Go to "Change Design" in the admin. The next page will display a list of all the template categories. Click on the new "E-Commerce" category.
Click "Preview" to see what the template looks like. You can choose different color variations from the "Color Options" dropdown menu.
Once you have selected a color that you like, click "Select" and the template will automatically be implemented with your website!
Keep in mind that this template was designed so that you can add your own custom header image. To do so, go to "Configure Layout" in the admin and click on "Edit the Header". You can insert images and/or text into the header from here. Make sure to click "Process Page Update" when you are done.
Once you
have installed the template, you will notice a second navigation menu
displaying horizontally across the top of your site.
The
links
in this horizontal navigation menu are fixed, meaning they cannot be
changed. In order to link them to your pages, you have to create pages
using the same exact names as the links (except for the "View Cart"
link -- see below for special note regarding getting this particular
link to work).
NOTE: In order for the
"View
Cart" button to link up to your shopping cart correctly, you will need
to have a Catalog page type added to your site that is titled
"Products". If you should have a page titled "Products" that is not
currently setup as a Catalog page type, then the "View Cart" button
will not redirect you back to the shopping cart.
For example, to get the
"New Products" link to work, you have to create a new page and title it
"New Products", or rename an existing page to "New Products".
Keep
in mind that the pages you link to these buttons should contain content
that is relative to the button title. For example, a page that is
linked by the "On Sale" button should be a catalog page filtered to
display products that are on sale. A catalog page filtered to display
products that are new should be linked by the "New Products" button.
